Bomb Scare In Lagos Airport Over Possible Al-Qaeda Attack

Security were reportedly beefed up on Monday at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, over the alleged terrorist attack.  According to Vanguard, the measure was taken following the report that the global terrorist organization Al-Qaeda might bomb airlines travelling to the United States and other destinations by means of mobile phones or laptops. Security operatives carried out thorough screening of every passenger, who had been preliminary ordered to switch on their electronic gadgets to enable security find the devices where explosives could be planted. It was also learnt that the situation resulted in heavy traffic and queues along the airport, Ikeja road. Both people and vehicles were being screened using modern equipment while trying to access the airport premises. Neither Police Public Relations Officer at the airport Dennis Ifijen, nor the General Manager Public Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Yakubu Dati replied to comment on the situation, when contacted.
