About the painful death of Dr. Chike Akunyili

  Dr. Chike Akunyili Obumneme, a son of the murdered Dr. Chike Akunyili has described how his father was killed by the yet-to-be-identified persons. The medical doctor and widower of a late Minister of Information, Dora Akunyili, was killed on Monday evening when he was returning from a commemorative lecture in honour of his late wife, Dora. The Police Command in Anambra State, where the incident happened, has vowed to unravel the brains behind the murder. Speaking with the BBC Igbo, Obumneme said that his dad was shot in the face by gunmen who opened fire on his vehicle at Nkpor, Anambra State. “His driver and a Police officer assigned to him also died in the shooting. A cousin survived and is being treated in hospital,” Obumneme added. They were driving back from the town of Nsukka in Enugu state after attending a lecture hosted by the University of Nigeria to pay tribute to the late NAFDAC DG, Dora.

84-year-old Kenyan man who returned home after 47 years is disappointed his two wives remarried; says they should have waited for him

  84-year-old Kenyan man, Peter Oyuk, is disappointed after returning home to find that the two wives he abandoned 47 years ago have remarried.   According to The Standard, the octogenarian had walked out of his Makale village in Malava, Kakamega county in 1974 at aged 37.   He told his people that he was going in search of greener pastures because he needed to take care of two wives and five children, although details of where he was headed and his expected return date were scanty.   Oyuka visited Kakamega in 1983, 1992 and 1996, but never set foot in his home despite being in close proximity to the family. After waiting for many years, his wives moved on and remarried.    On Tuesday, September 21, Oyuka returned to his village where only a few individuals could recognise him. One of his daughters-in-law was said to have almost raised alarm over fears that he was a stranger who had trespassed into the compound. Naira's free fall continues, now exchanging between N562 and N570 for 1$

  The Nigerian Naira hit a new time low on Wednesday September 15, as it is now exchanging between N562 and N570 for 1$ in parallel markets.    Though data recorded on the FMDQ securities exchange window where forex is officially traded, showed that the naira closed at N412.06 per $1 at the official window on Wednesday September 15, the same rate it exchanged on Tuesday September 14, walk-in customers exchanged between N562 to N567 for $1. Similarly, checks in Kano, Kaduna and Lagos showed that the prices fluctuated between N564 and N570/1$.   Some BDCs confirmed huge demand for forex at the moment with some of the operators disclosing that most of the demands were from SMEs that were having difficulty accessing forex from banks.   The forex turnover remained unchanged with $175.10 million recorded at the spot market, the same rate posted in the previous session on Tuesday.   The domestic unit hit an intraday high of N400.00 and a low of N414.90 at the trading session before closing at

Mistress pours hot water on housewife while she was sleeping

A married woman, Mrs. Adeola Moshood, 33, is critical ill at Gbagada General Hospital in Lagos after her husband’s mistress, Precious Ahanonu, attacked and poured hot water on her after the woman allegedly caught the mistress with the husband.   The incident reportedly happened at Okerube in Abaranje area of Ikotun, Lagos, where the couple reside. The husband, Aremu Moshood,  opened a fish pond and employed Precious, 26, to manage it.   After a while the husband allegedly started sleeping with Precious and rented a one bedroom and parlour self-contained apartment for her without the knowledge of his wife.   Margaret Loughrey, the EuroMillions winner who said her £27million win 8 years ago ‘destroyed her life’, has been found dead.    Belfast Live reported that emergency services were called to Loughrey's home in Ballycolman area of Strabane, Northern Ireland around 10.30am this morning.    Police said they are not treating the death of Margaret Loughrey who lived alone as "suspicious", but a post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause.   Laban Sabiti, a 29-year-old retail businessman in Bishayu Village, Ruhija Sub-county in Rubanda District, Uganda, pictured above, has been left stranded with five children including a 13-month toddler.   Mr Sabiti was left stranded with the children after his father-in-law, Mr Geoffrey Kakona, a resident of Kirima Village, Bushuura parish in Kanungu District reportedly reclaimed his daughter after Sabiti allegedly failed to settle bride price arrears totalling Shs6m. "It is true I delayed paying bride price but I was planning to pay it in December this year. FG considers action against people who refuse to take COVID-19 vaccines

  The Federal Government has hinted on taking some measures against people who refuse to get the COVID-19 vaccines.    Executive Director of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib at a press briefing on Tuesday August 31, said the Federal Government may “apply the basic rule of law” against such people because they will be endangering the lives of others.  Shuaib also stated that the Buhari-led administration is making frantic efforts in making the vaccines more accessible to all Nigerians.   He said;    “If some individuals refuse to take the vaccine, hence endangering those who have or those who could not due to medical exemptions, then we have to apply the basic rule of law which stipulates that your human right stops where mine begins.  “So, you have a right to refuse vaccines, but you do not have the right to endanger the health of others. “The Presidential Steering Committee and the Federal Ministry of Health is exploring ways of making vaccines more

  Photos have emerged showing Taliban supporters in Afghanistan holding a mock funeral while hoisting coffins draped with flags from the U.S. and other NATO countries.   The photos were taken in Khost, Afghanistan just a day after the last U.S. troops left the country after spending nearly 20-years in the country. Taliban leaders took over control of the Kabul airport Tuesday August 31, and marked the departure of the last U.S. plane from the country by taking a symbolic walk across the airport's sole runway, according to a report.  "The world should have learned its lesson and this is the enjoyable moment of victory," Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, said in a livestream video.   Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS), the survival reality show that dominated the Nigerian airwaves in the early 2000s, is making its triumphant return after seven years off the air. Created and sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc, manufacturers of Gulder lager beer, GUS started in 2004 and enjoyed 11 seasons on the air. The show went on to become the most-watched reality TV series in Nigeria before it ended in 2016.
