  A 20-year-old South African woman has given birth to a baby with a rare condition called progeria, a progressive genetic disorder that causes children to age rapidly.   Progeria, also known as Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome (HGPS) is caused by a mutation (change) in the lamin (LMNA) gene.    The woman from Libode in Eastern Cape, delivered the baby girl at home two months ago. Local mid-wives including the baby's grandmother noticed that she exhibited signs that were different from most babies. Her hands are deformed and her skin was wrinkled. She is currently in hospital with her mother.   "When she was in labour we called an ambulance but it took long to come. So she gave birth here at home. But the delivery got complicated and we hired a van to take her to hospital," the grandmother said.   "We were told there that she’s disabled. I noticed during her birth that there was something strange with her. She did not cry and she was breathing through the ribs. I

  A two-year-old boy has died after he was forgotten inside a hot car for three hours by his babysitter.   Arthur Oliveira dos Santos was being looked after by babysitter Glaucia Aparecida Luiz, 35, who reportedly ran an "unauthorised daycare centre" in her home in Sao Paulo, Brazil, police said. According to police statement, Arthur was tragically forgotten and spent the afternoon in a boiling hot car under the scorching sun, outside the suspect's home. Officers rushed to the scene on Wednesday, August 25, after the boy was discovered, The Sun reports.   They rushed the boy to the hospital but he was confirmed dead on arrival. It is thought the child died of suffocation and dehydration, but an autopsy to confirm the exact cause of death will be taking place soon.   Police say the suspect and her daughter took care of more than 10 children in their home and described it as an "irregular daycare centre". The babysitter has been arrested on suspicion of murder and

  A jealous wife allegedly screwed an engineering nut onto her husband's penis when she found out he'd been cheating on her.   The woman, who lives in Zaporozhye, Ukraine, with her husband, reportedlyvcarried out the act while her husband slept as a way to "avenge the betrayal." As a result, the man's manhood swelled up to the point where he was no longer able to remove the nut.   He had to be rushed to the hospital for treatment. Doctors at the 5th City Hospital tried to remove the nut from the man's penis, but failed.   They were then left with no option other than to perform surgery to remove the nut. While the patient was being prepared for surgery, doctors decided to call in Cobra rescuers.   Deputy Chief of Cobra, Eduard Nekhoroshev, told newsmen that medics called in the use of special tools, like an angle grinder, to perform the gruesome removal. Just after the Saturday Night Party, three ships that we hoped would give us some lovey-dovey moments tanked.   First of these was the ‘friendship’ between Boma and Queen. The two have spent a lot of time flirting but last night descended into a heated disagreement soon after the Party came to an end. Queen literally dragged Boma from dancing with other people during the party, which made him react in a way Queen found hurtful.  Right after the party, Queen was seen reporting the incident to Pere and Maria, saying she would never have anything to do with him again. Just as that was happening, Boma was in another corner saying he was not happy with Queen’s actions.   Nigerian rapper, Mr Raw and his friend have survived a ghastly motor accident.   The accident reportedly occurred before Bannex Junction in Abuja, in the early hours of today, Saturday, August 14. According to Raw, he was pulled out of the red car (pictured above) unconscious after another driver rammed into the car.   He said he passed out twice but fortunately, he is now in a stable condition and is responding to treatment. Taking to his Instagram page to thank God for his survival, the rapper wrote;  Thank God for my life o!.  It's a blessing being alive in the land of the living.   A mother who left her daughter alone to starve to death as she partied for six days has been jailed. Verphy Kudi admitted the manslaughter of 20-month-old Asiah Kudi, who was left at her Brighton flat as she celebrated her 18th birthday in December 2019. She travelled to London and Coventry, and had acted like a "carefree teenager", Lewes Crown Court was told. Kudi, 19, of no fixed address, has been jailed for nine years. Judge Christine Laing QC told Kudi that Asiah "was a helpless child" who "relied completely on you as her mother to provide for her needs". She said: "It is almost unbearable to contemplate her suffering in the final days of her life, suffering that she endured so that you could celebrate your birthday and the birthdays of your friends as a carefree teenager."   There’s still plenty of gameplay left in the Shine Ya Eye season, and – as the Housemate’s numbers begin to whittle down – it’ll get easier to summarise the goings-on in the Big Brother House. Right now, though, the full complement of 22 people is providing too many storylines that don’t quite resolve into a neat, tidy plot.
